Chicago events Fine Arts New Print Politik: Post-Soviet Politics and Contemporary Art
This multi-country exhibit highlights intersections of art and politics in Post-Soviet nations since 1991, with a focus on prints, multiples, and other reproducible media. Showing the work of artists from formerly communist states like Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, the exhibit presents a vivid snapshot of artistic developments since the fall of the Soviet Union. Now increasingly integrated into the global art world, these countries continue to undergo rapid political and economic transition. They are also home to radical artistic change: cross-border collaboration, collective production, activist art, and new open source cultures.
